Artifacts from the San Franisco 1906 earthquake/fire. Dug up on Valencia street in the Mission district of San Francisco,CA.;by Spencer Mack and Aurora Josephson in 2010-11. A layer of soil about two feet down contained the flattened burnt remains of a structure that stood there prior to the 1906 earthquake/fire. The layer of burnt ruins and rubble was for the most part only 4 or 5 inches thick in depth. We had access by way of some unrelated construction project to a few square yards to examine. A lot of melted glass and oxidized nails later some notable artifacts presented themselves. more posts commin' soon!
